Rejuvenated Marcus Rashford likely to be heading to Qatar with England – Man United News And Transfer News

Compared to last season’s dismal performances, Manchester United certainly look to be on the upswing. Despite Aston Villa’s latest setback, the team appear to be in contention for a top-four finish.

Erik ten Hag has certainly stabilized the ship and improved many aspects of the club, including trying to instill discipline among the team and installing a new and attractive style of play.

He has upgraded numerous previously underachieving stars and one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Dutchman’s reign has been Marcus Rashford.

Rashford rejuvenated

In 17 games between all competitions, the mancuniano has scored seven goals and has provided another three assists and is the current top scorer for the club.

That is in stark contrast to his form last season, when he scored just five times in 32 appearances. That losing streak meant that England manager Gareth Southgate left him out of his plans.

But with Rashford rediscovering his goalscoring touch and confidence, there’s every chance the United academy graduate will make the cut for England’s World Cup squad.

And The Telegraph seems to agree with this position. They have revealed in their report that Southgate is looking to call Rashford and include him on the plane to Qatar.

His electric pace, his dribbling ability and his versatility and enthusiasm for playing on the front row could be a huge asset for the Three Lions.

The 25-year-old will not be the only United player chosen by Southgate. Despite his poor form, Harry Maguire is expected to keep his place.

United’s other England stars

The United captain has started just once since being injured on international duty, but Southgate is likely to put his faith in him again.

Luke Shaw, who got his form back under Ten Hag, is also likely to make the cut. Caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick left him in favor of Alex Telles last season.

The arrival of Tyrell Malacia prompted Shaw to step up his game and the former Southampton star has been excellent in recent weeks and deserves his chance in Qatar.

However, United winger Jadon Sancho is not expected to be chosen, another big blow for the former Borussia Dortmund star who has been pitched big.
