Juventus will offer Danilo a new contract after World CupJuvefc.com

After establishing himself as one of the main pillars of the club, Danilo has writing on the wall.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via TuttoJuve, Juventus will hold talks with the Brazilian to extend his contract after the World Cup.

The 31-year-old arrived in Turin in 2019 thanks to a swap deal with Man City, in which Joao Cancelo made the switch in the opposite direction.

While not as technically talented as the Portuguese fullback, Danilo’s determination and tenacity embodies the club’s traditional fighting spirit.

The former Porto and Real Madrid player currently has a contract that binds him to the Old Lady until 2024.

Juve FC says

Last weekend, the versatile defender wore the captain’s armband in the absence of Leonardo Bonucci, although supposedly Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro surpass him in the pecking order.

The duo have been with the club since 2015, while Danilo only joined in 2019.

However, it is becoming increasingly clear that the former Manchester City man is more suitable for the role and it seems that sooner or later he will become Juventus’ first captain.

Sandro and Cuadrado could be leaving the club anyway, while Bonucci’s future remains anything but certain.

Therefore, it would not be a bad idea to extend Danilo’s contract, but the club should, at the same time, avoid offering him a long contract, since he is already in his thirties and his physical condition could suddenly deteriorate (see Khedira, Sandro… ).
