Manchester United blocked Anthony Elanga loan departure over summer – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have blocked Anthony Elanga from a potential loan move during the summer transfer window.

That’s according to reliable reporter Fabrizio Romano, who in his daily briefing claims that the Red Devils turned down multiple loan offers for the young Swede back in August.

At 20 years of age, Elanga could perhaps benefit from some regular playing time as he looks to develop into a quality Premier League player.

However, United’s lack of depth, particularly in the forward areas, likely barred a loan move.

Elanga has made nine league appearances this season, with two more in Europe.

There has been plenty of playing time at Old Trafford and injuries to the likes of Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho have left the door wide open for United academy graduates.

Unfortunately for Elanga, he seems to have been overtaken by Alejandro Garnacho in the pecking order of late.

The Argentine teenager made headlines when he scored the goal in United’s 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad.

While both players are perhaps too inexperienced to be trusted as regulars, they have a lot of potential.

Either could seek a loan move in January if United look to bolster Erik ten Hag’s side with more polished attacking options.

In Elanga’s case, there would probably still be plenty of interest given the experience he has amassed in both the Premier League and European competition.

Whether United would be in a position to let him out on loan would largely depend on what the Red Devils can spend in the winter.
