Lijnders provides five-man pre-Derby injury update

Liverpool are set to compete in our first domestic cup match of the campaign and Pep Lijnders took charge of the press conference, also providing a five-man fitness update for our supporters.

Speaking to the media, the 39-year-old said: “Naby [Keita] it will be difficult, he is still training individually. Let’s see for Southampton.

Millie [James Milner] will definitely be ready for Southampton but this game [against Derby] It’s too early for tomorrow.

“Then we have, of course, Joel [Matip]who is getting closer to training with the team but probably won’t make it to Southampton.

“The longest injuries, Luis Díaz runs for the first time on Thursday. That is good news because we all know how important it was last year and in the second half of the season.

“Y [Diogo] Jota will take longer.

It looks like at least five players will be missing for Paul Warne’s side’s visit to Anfield and Jurgen Klopp is likely to be shuffling his deck as we begin our defense of the Carabao Cup.

All eyes seem to be on the final Premier League match against Southampton this weekend, but many young players are hoping for the chance to impress first in front of a waiting crowd at Anfield.
