David de Gea has played the most minutes in Premier League history – Man United News And Transfer News

David de Gea has broken a new record and is now the player with the most minutes played in the Premier League.

While it hasn’t been pretty since his arrival, there is no doubt that his loyalty to the club remains.

Since joining Man United in 2011, De Gea has been the starting goalkeeper following the retirement of Edin van der Sar.

He has gone on to be one of the starters in the Spanish international team until he was dropped due to poor form in 2020.

De Gea hasn’t had much success at United lately and his contract runs out at the end of this season.

With the club expected to activate the one-year option clause in his contract, time seems to be running out for the goalkeeper to improve.

Over the past three seasons, it has been noticeable that his form has dropped significantly.

Fans will remember that De Gea was taken off the bench by Dean Henderson on a few occasions, but managed to prove himself and rejoin the starting eleven.

Now, after yesterday’s loss to Aston Villa, he has now overtaken Ben Foster for the most minutes played in the Premier League.

Former United captain Ashley Young fails to crack the top ten with the right-back positioning at 11th.

He is currently at Aston Villa and is not far from displacing Phil Jagielka, who arrives tenth.

De Gea should feel honored that he has been trusted for more than 10 years at the club.

With multiple goals for goalkeepers being discussed behind the scenes, it appears the Spaniard will need to prove himself once again or he could face being permanently sidelined.
