Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League with a 1–0 victory over Chelsea in the London derby, with Gabriel Magalhaes’ second-half goal separating the two teams.

Chelsea hosted Arsenal at Stamford Bridge in a Premier League game on Sunday, and they looked second throughout the game.

Arsenal should have taken the lead in the 29th minute of the match when Gabriel Martinelli sent a cross into the Chelsea box. But Gabriel Jesús, who made a diving header, could not find the target.

After a goalless first half, Arsenal had another chance to take the lead in the 56th minute of play. Arsenal took a penalty corner from the right, with Bukayo Saka passing the ball to Martin Odegaard. Then, the Norwegian sent a cross into the Chelsea area, but Thomas Partey could not connect the ball correctly and finished wide of the goal.

The North London side came close to finding their first goal in the 62nd minute when Jesus stripped Thiago Silva in Chelsea’s defensive third. He passed the ball to Saka and received it back from the England international before forcing a save from Edouard Mendy.

Arsenal finally took the deserved lead at the next corner. A corner from the right by Saka beat everyone at the near post and Gabriel headed in at the far post to put Arsenal 1-0 up.

Saka shot well over the goal in the 68th minute after receiving the ball inside the Chelsea box. Arsenal then dismissed the game to win three important points.

Chelsea, despite trailing by a goal, were unable to prove much to Mendy, with the Blues registering just one shot on target all night. Chelsea took a total of five shots, while Arsenal recorded 14 shots, 2 of which were shots on goal.
