English Premier League giants Manchester City want to sign Spanish left-back Alejandro Grimaldo from Portuguese Benfica in the next transfer window.
Alejandro Grimaldo began his football career at the Valencia academy. The winger trained for two seasons in the Valencia academy before joining the FC Barcelona youth team.
He then graduated from the Barcelona academy and was promoted to the main team. Grimaldo played four seasons at Barcelona B but failed to make the senior team. Finally, the winger joined Portuguese Benfica at Benfica in the transfer market of January 2016.
At Benfica, Grimaldo gradually established himself as one of the best key players in the squad. The fullback has so far won 3 Primeira Liga titles, 1 Taca de Portugal, 1 Taca da Liga and 3 Supertaca Candido de Oliveira titles.
Manchester City interested in Grimaldo
Now, according to a recent report by Tribal Football, the giants of the English Premier League, Manchester City are keen to bolster their defense with the arrival of Alejandro Grimaldo from Benfica.
With Pep Guardiola, Manchester City have assembled one of the strongest teams in Europe. They have ample depth at all positions. But that does not prevent them from adding more quality to their squad.
Alejandro Grimaldo, 27, is currently at the top of his game. The left back has been a constant player for Benfica over the years. He has also had a good start to the season. The left back managed three goals and four assists in all competitions.
Grimaldo’s contract with Benfica will expire at the end of the season. Although Benfica wants to give him an extension, it has been understood that the winger does not want to continue. So if a decent offer comes in the January transfer window, Benfica will sell him.
