According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho was sacked by the manager after he broke the rules set by Erik ten Hag.
Garnacho was included in the squad that traveled to Bangkok and Australia for their pre-season after his breakout season with Manchester United’s FA Youth Cup winning side. However, he did not appear in any of the games and it is now revealed that the manager dumped him “after twice being late for team meetings”.
Ten Hag hasn’t been afraid to be tough on his players, regardless of their size, since joining United from Ajax. Garnacho was sanctioned for breaking team rules and, despite training with the rest of the squad during pre-season, he did not make his debut until the last friendly against Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford.
He made his full debut against FC Sherrif last week and scored his first United goal against Real Sociedad on Thursday becoming Europe’s ‘youngest non-English goalscorer at 18 years and 125 days’.
The coach had referred to his previous attitude problem after the game against FC Sherrif. He said:
“Of course, we are disappointed that we were not successful in scoring with a two-goal difference.”
“But we won, a clean sheet, positive, we have extra options on the front line with Garnacho.
“It is developing very well. I hope I can keep that attitude like now. When he’s reliable, you see he’s a threat, he can create, he can make finishing passes and he can score goals, so it’s a good process.”
‘Young children have to grow and elevate their personality. They have to know what the laws and demands of elite football are. You have to meet high standards every day.’
Bruno Fernandes also highlighted his problems in the preseason after the game in San Sebastián. He said:
“He knows we expect a lot from him. He wasn’t at his best at the start of the season. On the tour he didn’t have the best attitude that he should have, but now he’s training better and getting his chances. He deserves his opportunities.”
