Michael Carrick eyeing January Manchester United raid for Zidane Iqbal – Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United midfielder and current Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick has already started making transfer plans for January as he looks to adjust to his new role.

Carrick was appointed as Boro’s new manager last month and will take charge of his first match at Riverside today when his side take on Bristol City.

The Middlesbrough role represents the Englishman’s first big step into solo management after serving as an assistant manager for several years at United since retiring from professional football.

Carrick has the huge advantage of many incredible links and connections stemming from his many years of association with United.

In an exclusive report published by Football League World, it appears the United legend wastes no time utilizing his extensive in-game network.

According to FLW, Carrick is interested in bringing Zidane Iqbal to Middlesbrough on a temporary basis.

“Carrick wants to build on his links with Man United and pursue a potential deal for Iqbal, the Red Devils’ teenage midfielder. Boro boss of football Kieran Scott is starting to put together general transfer plans ahead of the winter window at the moment.”

“Any Iqbal move would almost certainly be a loan move given the high rating he has at Old Trafford.”

Iqbal is a player that Carrick would be very familiar with, having coached him and seen him up close during his coaching days at the Theater of Dreams.

The 19-year-old signed a new contract with United in the summer but has failed to break into the first team after a highly successful pre-season tour that made him one of the most talked about players among the traveling group.

Until now, Iqbal has had to deal with being in the Premier League and Europa League matchday squads.

Unless Ten Hag intends to integrate him into the first team this campaign, a loan spell under Carrick will do Iqbal a world of good. United Matchday Magazine – Stay on top of all things red! Take a seat for the Aston Villa game and join the debate on United’s hottest topics!
