Pundit claims Spurs will target 29-yr-old Liverpool weak link on Sunday

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has had a difficult season so far and the Brazilian has failed to reach the high standards he managed to set early in his career at Anfield.

The 29-year-old has been overlooked quite easily by the opposition in recent months and that has made Liverpool vulnerable defensively.

Fabinho has received a lot of criticism for his performances and former Liverpool player Jamie Redknapp has claimed that the player could have an injury that has prevented him from performing at the highest level.

So far there has been no indication from the coach or the player that an injury is healing. It remains to be seen if Fabinho can get back to his best level soon.

Meanwhile, Redknapp has also claimed that Tottenham will be looking to target Fabinho when the Londoners take on Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Sky Sports pundit has hinted that the Brazilian could be Liverpool’s weak link on Sunday.

“When I was seeing Fabinho, that was his role when he first arrived, but now he can’t get close to anyone for whatever reason. Maybe it was a lot of games last year, maybe he has an injury, who knows what it is, but in that area, maybe that’s where Spurs can have some success,” Redknapp said on the Sky Sports podcast.

Spurs have done much better than Liverpool this season and will certainly be the favorites to pick up all three points when the two teams meet on Sunday night.

Liverpool only have one specialist defensive midfielder and their problems have cost them dearly. It will be interesting to see if the Reds decide to dive into the January transfer window to take cover in that area.

The Reds have recently been linked with RB Leipzig defensive midfielder Konrad Laimer. The Austrian has done well in Germany and could prove a quality acquisition.
