Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag recently praised young Argentine striker Alejandro Garnacho after his last match against Real Sociedad.
English Premier League giants Manchester United faced Real Sociedad in their last Europa League outing.
Going into the match, the Red Devils knew they would have to win by at least two goals to finish top of Group E. By doing so, they could have avoided a playoff round match against UEFA Champions League teams.
Erik ten hag named young Argentine striker Alejandro Garnacho in his first eleven. The Argentine striker then proved his worth and scored the first goal of the match. United finished with a 1-0 victory.
Erik Ten Hag praises Alexander Grenache
Prior to the Sociedad match, Garnacho had only one Europa League start and a few sporadic appearances in the English Premier League. Ten Hag revealed last week his poor attitude costing him playing time in preseason in Australia and Thailand.
So when Erik ten hag named Garnacho in his starting eleven, it presented itself as a great opportunity for the youngster. And the Argentine striker grabbed him with both hands.
In the absence of the greats, Garnacho came out strong and scored his first goal for the senior team. Now, this is a relief for the Dutch manager and also for the United board.
The Argentine has shown that he is knocking on the door for being a regular in the first team. He has also become a trump card for United manager Erik ten Hag. After the match, the Dutch coach praised him highly.
“Of course, we are disappointed that we were not successful in scoring with a two-goal difference. But we won, a clean sheet, positive, we have more options on the front row with Garnacho”, said Erik ten Hag.
The United manager further added: “It is developing very well. I hope I can keep that attitude like now. When he’s reliable, you see he’s a threat, he can create, he can make finishing passes and he can score goals, so it’s a good process.”
Now, after United’s 1-0 victory, they finished their campaign in Europa League Group E by being second in the group. United will have to play the Europa League playoff round to reach the round of 16.
You will be able to meet your opponents next Monday. But before that, Manchester United will face Aston Villa in their next English Premier League match.
