La Liga president Javier Tebas has criticized Ligue 1, stating that Lionel Messi now attracts fewer eyes since playing in the French top flight.
Messi left Barcelona in the summer of 2021 after his contract with Barcelona expired. The Argentine wanted to continue in the Catalan team. But Barça could not extend his contract due to ‘financial and structural obstacles’.
Messi moved to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer 2021 transfer window, joining the French side on a two-year deal with the option to extend it for another year. Since then, the 35-year-old has been playing for PSG.

When asked if he misses Messi in La Liga, Tebas criticized Ligue 1. He said that the Argentine is not only missed in La Liga, but also in football.
Tebas also assured that the Argentine is followed “much less” at PSG than at FC Barcelona.
“I think that Messi is not only missed in LaLiga, he is also missed in football, because the French league is what it is, right? And there is no more, I think that no matter how much he is at PSG, he is followed much less than when he was at Fútbol Club Barcelona, ”said Tebas at the Ole Sports Summit.
He added that he hopes Messi has a great World Cup and said football fans will be able to see him again.
Tebas also admitted that he misses Messi and hopes the Argentine will return to La Liga and Barcelona.
