Tottenham Hotspur confirm extent Son injury following concussion

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Heung-Min Son will require surgery after sustaining an injury during their final Champions League group stage match.

The South Korean suffered a concussion after colliding heads with Chancel Mbemba during Tuesday’s game against Olympique de Marseille. After failing immediate concussion checks, he was forced to be substituted.

The Spurs have since released an update for fans, confirming that Son “will need to have surgery to stabilize a fracture around his left eye.”

Antonio Conte’s team only have three games left before the World Cup; Liverpool and Leeds in the Premier League and an EFL Cup tie with Nottingham Forest.

We will miss Son very much for the next matches.

Their meeting with Liverpool is a must-win for both sides, with Spurs aiming to remain entrenched in third place in the league table and the Merseyside side hoping to improve their position from ninth.

Son is a key player for Spurs and has been in recent years. While he may not be at the best signing right now, having him on the team is a significant loss for Conte.
