Manchester United are among several Premier League clubs going after Martin Terrier.
That’s according to Graeme Bailey of 90min.com, who claims the Frenchman’s fantastic form has attracted a great deal of interest.
The Rennes striker scored 21 goals in Ligue 1 last season and has started this season just as well, netting 11 goals in all competitions so far.
He has also racked up four assists and is one of the best performing players currently plying his trade in France.
Terrier’s performances for Rennes have taken him to an unlikely third place in the table, with the left winger accounting for a massive 29% of all his goals this season.
Manchester United are among several enthusiastic fans of the striker.
According to Bailey, as many as half of the Premier League have looked to Terrier this season, with interest from Italy and Germany also on the cards.
United are among the clubs that have watched the Frenchman in the last two weeks and are likely to have been impressed.
While Bailey claims there could be a move in January, it’s hard to see how Rennes could sanction the departure of a player so central to their mid-season success.
However, with Didier Deschamps recently recalling Terrier to the France national team, that may change.
A good World Cup could spark a bidding war that leaves Rennes with offers too good to refuse.
Rennes would already want a club record fee of over £30m, but that number could rise if Terrier’s form continues.
Given that Manchester United have been seriously interested in signing Cody Gakpo over the summer and still retain interest, Terrier may well be seen as an alternative.
The two play similar positions and provide analogous goal returns for their teams.
