West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca avoids red card vs Manchester United – Man United News And Transfer News

West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca avoided a second yellow card after kicking Lisandro Martinez in the head during the weekend’s game.

The last arrival at the London club was booked in the first half, which was considered a harsh booking after a minor clash with a United player.

However, the incident in the second half where he was seen kicking Martinez in the head was deemed worthy of an ejection.

The referee decided to let it go, much to the chagrin of the United fans.

Scamacca joined the club from Serie A in the summer and has broken into the starting eleven this season.

He has managed to keep Antonio on the bench, who was a regular starter before the arrival of the Italian.

According to The Daily Star, many Red Devils supporters complained on Twitter about the ruthless challenge.

One fan argued: “Scamacca should have received a second yellow card… What a shocking decision from the referee.”

While another fan said: “Reserving for one of our own fighting a 50/50, yeah that high boot on Martinez ain’t a second yellow for Scamacca?”

The complaints didn’t matter in the end as United beat West Ham 1-0 after a difficult period during the closing stages of the game.

Marcus Rashford scored an impressive headed goal in the first half and is certainly dreaming of participating in this year’s World Cup.

With just a couple of matches left before some team members join their international squads, Erik ten Hag will hope to win on the road.
