Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka made his 200th Premier League appearance for the Gunners in their thrashing of Nottingham Forest on Sunday, and said the achievement makes him proud.

Arsenal hosted Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium in their last Premier League match and recorded a lopsided win. The Gunners crushed the visitors, securing a 5-0 victory over Forest.

Xhaka started for Arsenal in the match and played until the 75th minute, at which point manager Mikel Arteta replaced the Swiss international with Eddie Nketiah.

Xhaka spoke to Arsenal.com after the match about his latest achievement and said hopefully more will come from him.

“Two hundred Premier League games for this incredible football club makes me proud,” said the 30-year-old. “I am proud of myself, of my teammates, of the squad that I have had in the last seven years.

“I also feel at home, so I hope there is more to come. Two hundred games, you can’t do that from today tomorrow. It takes a lot of hard work, a lot of discipline, a lot of people were included around me during the last seven years and in the end it is hard work.

Xhaka has been an important fixture in the Arsenal line-up this season. He has appeared in 17 games for the Gunners in all competitions so far this season. That means he has appeared in every game Arsenal have played so far this season.

In his 17 appearances for Arsenal this season, Xhaka has scored four goals and registered three assists. He managed three of those goals and all three assists in the Premier League, where Arsenal sit top of the Premier League points table.

The victory over Nottingham Forest returned Arsenal to the Premier League points table. The north London side have 31 points from 12 Premier League games this season.

Arsenal have 10 wins, one draw and one loss in the English top flight this season. Their only league defeat of the season so far came at the hands of Man Utd, who recorded a 3-1 win. They lost two more points when they and Southampton drew 1-1 in their previous game.

Arsenal enjoy a two-point lead at the top. Man City are second in the table, with the defending Premier League champions having 29 points from 12 games.
