(A score of 6 is around average)

Radek Vitek – 7.5 – Made some big saves, notably a couple of 1v1 chances, and was good at coming out and sweeping balls over the top.

Marc Jurado – 7.5 – Scored the late equalizer with a fantastic curling shot into the top corner. He might as well have had a couple of assists with his baseline cuts. Defensively, he was a mixed bag, making some strong tackles but also getting hit too easily at times.

Teden Mengi – 7.5 – The calmest on the ball from the baseline, he was in charge of carrying the ball into midfield and was very strong defensively using his strength and pace to thwart a number of counter-attacks despite being outplayed in number. The Spurs tried to throw him off with some dirty challenges, but he was calm and in control throughout.

Rhys Bennett – 6 – Was passed too easily and struggled with the pace of the Spurs’ attack rushing at him. But he did well with the physical battles that the Spurs’ attackers were foully engaging in, which could have sent him off when he punched William Lankshear in the neck after his shirt was almost ripped off.

Björn Hardley – 5.5 – He went ahead and put up some dangerous crosses, but couldn’t find a teammate. He seemed positionally confused with the 5 in the back, which allowed plenty of room for the Spurs to run behind.

Charlie Savage – 6.5 – He was solid in midfield and did well to get the ball into the attacking third with a series of crosses.

Toby Collyer – 5.5 – Unusually sloppy in possession at times and was dragged through midfield in the disjointed setup.

Zidane Iqbal – 7 – He won the penalty in the early stages with great control and strength in the area. He was having a strong game appearing in dangerous areas with tight footwork and even made some good strong tackles as he cut down a central figure in early proceedings. But his performance was cut short for an unknown reason in the first half, despite his protests that he was playing because he was clearly enjoying himself.

Kobbie Mainoo (6) was neat on the ball and showed good holding play, but looked out of place and spent most of the game trading around as number nine and didn’t know how to effectively time his runs against defenders.

Shola Shoretire – 6.5 – Unlucky hit the post on what would have been a fantastic goal. He was the shining spark of United’s attack, particularly in the first half, but he lacked a focal point to nurture and was unable to do so himself.

Noam Emeran – 5 – A pretty bad day for the winger, starting with the penalty missed early and then another big miss from 10 yards. At times, he found himself in a lot of space, but he couldn’t create anything with it and finally climbed to the top.

substitutes

Omari Forson – 6 – Had some good touches to open up space, but often wanted to hold on to the ball for a long time

Tom Huddlestone – 6 – Kept things simple in midfield and distributed the ball.
