Official figures released by Inter Milan revealed the fee they paid to secure the services of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Lukaku returned to Inter Milan on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window, just one season after his high-profile return to Chelsea.

Chelsea signed the Belgian striker from Inter Milan in the summer of 2021 for a club-record fee. However, things did not go as planned for Lukaku at Chelsea, where he endured a sub-par 21/22 campaign.

Lukaku made 44 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea in the 2021/22 season. The Belgian scored 15 goals for the Blues in the first season of his second spell with the club. In the Premier League, Lukaku played 26 games and scored eight goals.

Inter Milan re-signed Lukaku in the summer transfer market, on loan from Chelsea. According to official figures released by Inter Milan at its annual shareholders’ meeting, the Italian club reached an agreement with Chelsea for 7.8 million euros for the transfer of Lukaku [via The Mirror].

Since sealing his return to Inter Milan, Lukaku has made just four appearances for the Italian outfit. Lukaku has 2 goals for Inter so far this season, one in Serie A and one in the Champions League.

Lukaku scored for Inter in his first Serie A game since returning to the club. But he suffered a hamstring injury in late August and was out of action for nearly two months.

He returned to action when Inter met Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League earlier this week. Inter secured a 4–0 win in that game and Lukaku scored his fourth goal of the match.

Meanwhile, Inter have made a below-par start to the 22/23 season. They are seventh in the Serie A points table with 21 points from 11 games. Inter has seven wins and four losses in the Italian top flight so far this season.

Inter are eight points behind leaders Napoli in Serie A. They are also three points behind Atalanta, who are fourth in the table.

Meanwhile, Inter managed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League from a rather difficult group. The Italian team is in Group C, along with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Viktoria Plzen.

Inter have sealed their place in the Champions League round of 16 with 10 points from five games. They sit second in the group, behind Bayern Munich.
