Gabriel Magalhaes believes Henderson used a ‘far worse’ insult in ‘Portuguese’ as new details emerge

New information has emerged about the feud between Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

The pair were involved in a heated argument during Arsenal’s 3–2 win over Liverpool after Arsenal were awarded a match-winning penalty. The two players had to be separated by their teammates when the defender complained to referee Michael Oliver about something Henderson allegedly said to him during the confrontation.

Jurgen Klopp and Arteta were informed about it and the Football Association then launched an investigation into the matter which used a professional lip reader as well as statements from both players to help the investigation.

On Tuesday, the FA acquitted Jordan Henderson and the case against him was dismissed and now Daily Mail columnist Martin Samuel has released more information about the incident.

He wrote: “Henderson is believed to have told the inquest that he called Gabriel a ‘fucking idiot.’ Gabriel believed that he had used a much worse word in Portuguese.

He further stated that despite Gabriel’s claim, “none of the other players questioned” could back up his claim. However, it was claimed that the defender was “simply wrong” and did not charge Henderson with malice.

The following report from Samuel explains the process behind FA’s conclusion of the case:

“It is believed that Henderson told the investigation that he called Gabriel a ‘fucking idiot.’ Gabriel thought he had used a much worse word in Portuguese. None of the other players questioned, from Arsenal or Liverpool, could confirm this. No one claimed that Gabriel was insincere, he was simply wrong.

So now, the probability balance. To Henderson, using such a word would demonstrate a mastery of the Brazilian-Portuguese dialect that he simply does not possess.

Then one would have to believe that he researched the best way to offend – despite being the admired captain of a cosmopolitan Liverpool dressing room – or that he was taught by one of his Brazilian or Portuguese teammates, half of whom are of ethnic origin. On the balance of probability, therefore, the accusation disappears.”

Some Arsenal fans on social media immediately accused Henderson of allegedly being racist towards Gabriel based on the players’ expressions, but the FA’s investigation shows that this was just a misunderstanding on Gabriel’s behalf and was not said. nothing racist.

The FA’s decision to clear Henderson is a huge relief to both Liverpool and Henderson.
