Manchester United cruised to a 3-0 victory against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League, in what ultimately turned out to be a comfortable victory for Erik ten Hag and his players.
United took all three points thanks to goals from Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo was reinstated to the team and played the full 90 minutes after being sent off in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
He capped off his performance with a second-half goal to ensure there was no question of United’s victory on the night.
However, one thing that stood out from the game regarding Ronaldo was that he was at the end of the boos in some cases when he had the ball.
Every time the 37-year-old touched the ball, there were some audible boos from the crowd.
It’s important to note that while some boos were heard, the majority of supporters showed their support for the striker, mimicking his iconic siuuuu celebration.
This is something that happened at the beginning of the game when Ronaldo’s name was read as reported by Samuel Luckhurst of MEN.
Great joy for Ronaldo when his name was announced, probably accompanied by a ‘Siiiiu’ instead of a ‘boo’ #mufc pic.twitter.com/MSvU1tV3lj

However, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was booed on occasion, especially in the second half, whenever he registered a touch on the ball.
Harry Maguire received some of the same treatment, but like Ronaldo, the defender was applauded and cheered in what was a fine performance by the captain on his return to the first team after a lengthy injury.
Ten Hag would no doubt have been impressed with Maguire’s defense as he was placed alongside Victor Lindelof, with whom he formed the central defense pair in the second half after Lisandro Martinez was substituted.
The Dutch coach will also be relieved that Ronaldo finally got on the scoreboard after a series of missed opportunities.
