ESPN’s Jon Champion will be one of the main commentators for ITV’s coverage of the 2022 World Cup. Champion, one of the most popular broadcasters in the business, joins the British network for the tournament as ESPN does not have the rights to broadcast of the Qatar World Cup here in the United States.
Along with Champion, ITV also features Sam Matterface, Clive Tyldesley, Seb Hutchinson, Joe Speight and Tom Gayle as commentators. Analysts Lee Dixon, Ally McCoist, John Hartson and Andros Townsend will join commentators at the studio.
Champion worked for ITV in the early 2000s, as the network previously won broadcast rights to the Premier League. The Englishman also called UEFA Champions League and League Cup matches for the channel.
As well as big matches in England, Champion also has World Cup experience. He called matches for ITV at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and then the 2014 and 2018 tournaments for ESPN and FOX Sports respectively. Champion currently covers MLS games alongside Taylor Twellman.

Studio commentators for ITV during the upcoming World Cup will also feature some popular figures in the sport. Ian Wright, Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Karen Carney, Graeme Souness, Joe Cole, Eni Aluko, Nigel De Jong, Nadia Nadim and Hal Robson-Kanu will feature on the network during the competition.
Mark Pougatch, Seema Jaswal and the fantastic Laura Woods will also present the World Cup for ITV.
ITV will share the broadcast rights for the 2022 World Cup in the UK with the BBC. Each network airs 32 games for the duration of the tournament.
Here in the United States, FOX Sports offers all the games in English. Telemundo, and the other outlet owned by NBC, Peacock, will handle the Spanish broadcast.
