Robertson on the motivational conversation he had with Nunez at half-time

Darwin Nunez would have been understandably bummed out after a huge first-half miss against Ajax, but Andy Robertson explained how he and his team-mates made sure to cheer the striker on.

Speaking to BT Sport, the Scotland captain said: “Darwin was at half-time really mad at himself for losing that opportunity, I sat next to him in the dressing room and I don’t know if he understood a word I said. but I told him ‘I’ll put a cross on your head and marks, no problem’. Maybe we need to say that more often!”

It is great to know that the entire dressing room is not only behind the Uruguayan, but also behind each other, and that team spirit will certainly help in the most difficult moments that will follow in this campaign.

Perhaps we also need more predictions from our left-back, especially if they prove to be as successful as his comments to the 23-year-old in Amsterdam.
