Chelsea are not looking to just appoint one or two experts in the field, they are looking to recruit experts across a full team from the club’s recently reshuffled recruiting and scouting department.
We had always heard the rumors before Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital came in as new owners, that they had major rebuilding plans for the club, especially in recruiting. We had heard that they wanted to instill data experts and make our recruitment department one of the best in world football.
And right now, they’re going a long way to do just that. Four or five heads are better than one, right? And it appears that, if the rumors are correct, Chelsea is seeking out a number of proven experts in her individual fields and creating a number of different roles for them in a bid to become world leaders in recruiting.

It has been clear for some time now that Chelsea needed to improve their scouting network and teams, and also become much better at judging talent, current talent and decision-making. We had really gone off the rails with this under Roman Abramovich.
Boehly and company came in and addressed this right away, and I really support them in building our recruiting department into a top notch team of recruiters, talent scouts, and decision makers.
It also appears that Chelsea will be using some of these new experts at a number of their clubs that they intend to buy under the multi-club plans.
