Luke Shaw gives his surprise verdict on Tyrell Malacia and ‘tricky’ Antony – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw praised Tyrell Malacia and Antony for their contributions to the team so far.

Malacia and Antony arrived at Old Trafford in the summer from the Eredivisie and it hasn’t taken them long to get used to life at their new club and in a new country.

Antony has apparently secured a starting place in the team and has been showing fans why Erik ten Hag spent a lot of money on him at the end of the transfer window.

Malacia has been excellent, but recently lost his starting spot on the team to a resurgent Shaw.

On Malacia, Shaw told club media: “Obviously Tyrell has also been playing very well, and I think that’s really good, that the manager has competition in different positions, and that we both have a good level.”

Shaw revealed that he has an extremely cordial relationship with the young Dutchman, with whom he speaks regularly. He added that there was a healthy rivalry between them: Malacia wants Shaw to do well, while the Englishman also supports Malacia when it is his turn to play.

Shaw praised Antony, who said he was taking the right steps on the team. “We have good battles in training and it’s really good to be able to train against someone like him with such quality. He game by game, he is getting better and better.”

“He looks very confident, he’s getting past the players and coming in and creating chances and scoring goals. He is in a very good moment and we know that there is still more to come.”

The 27-year-old applauded his manager Ten Hag. According to Shaw, Ten Hag has impressed most of the players in the locker room, including himself, with his ideas and the way he communicates.

The winger highlighted the coach’s attention to structure on and off the ball as something that has stood out. Shaw noted that as a result of the coach’s philosophy, it was clear the team was on an upward curve.

However, he commented that while there was a visible improvement, the most important thing is still to get as many points on the board as possible.

Shaw mentioned the Newcastle game as an instance where he felt the team was unable to make their performance count.

He concluded by conveying that the team was on the right track and that there is still more to come.

Hopefully Shaw can continue to maintain the levels he has shown so far since his return to the team. This time, he has a young rookie in Malacia waiting patiently on the sidelines to snatch his place from him in case he falls back into bad habits.
