Sporting manager Ruben Amorim finally breaks his silence on a potential return for Cristiano Ronaldo – Man United News And Transfer News

Sporting CP manager Rubén Amorim has said that he, along with the club, would love to have Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks.

However, Amorim admitted that the United ace’s return to Portugal is severely hampered by the high wages the player would be paid.

The Sporting CP manager spoke to the media ahead of his team’s clash with Tottenham and was questioned about the Ronaldo saga.

In the midweek game against Tottenham, Ronaldo refused to come on as a substitute and ran down the tunnel in a fit of rage. He was later kicked out of first team training and kicked out of the team that traveled to face Chelsea.

These events have only served to reignite rumors of a possible departure from Old Trafford for Ronaldo in January, with Ten Hag reportedly keen to let the player leave to make way for the team’s development in his absence.

Amorim said: “I don’t know. Ronaldo is a top player, a Manchester United player. Everyone at Sporting dreams of Cristiano’s return, so I don’t want to talk about it.”

“He is a Manchester United player, a top player, and he will be for a few months. I will answer in the same way because many journalists ask me the same question.”

“I have my problems with some of the Sporting players, so it’s [Erik] The Ten Hag problem, I am very happy with my players, there is no problem. At the moment I just want to beat Tottenham.”

Amorim pointed out that the main reason behind Ronaldo’s dissatisfaction is that he does not play as often as he would like.

With Amorim’s admission, it seems the 37-year-old’s options are fading by the day.

No elite European club would take him at his age and the sheer cost it would take to pay for it. Napoli, according to one report, may be best suited to offer the striker a departure from England.

Hopefully Ronaldo gets his move in January and United can finally put the accompanying drama behind it.
