Casemiro is Man Utd’s Guard Dog in the Middle, Says Antony

Manchester United star Antony has labeled teammate and compatriot Casemiro as his ‘watchdog in the middle’.

Both Antony and Casemiro ply their trade for Manchester United after the two players signed for the Red Devils in the previous summer transfer window. The Old Trafford team got Antony from Ajax in the summer and reunited him with manager Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United also signed Casemiro in the summer, acquiring the Brazilian international’s services from Spanish giants Real Madrid. Casemiro joined Man Utd on a four-year deal with an option for a further year.

Meanwhile, Antony has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League team. His contract with the Red Devils runs through 2027.

Speaking to the official Man Utd website, Antony described Casemiro as a serious and earnest player who is his watchdog in the middle.

“I always say it’s our watchdog in the middle,” he said jokingly. “He is a sensible guy, a more serious guy. I think he will leave these goal celebrations to us attacking players!”

Since joining Man Utd in the summer, Casemiro has appeared in 12 games for the Red Devils. He did eight of those in the Premier League, and the rest in the Europa League.

Casemiro also recorded a goal and an assist each for Man Utd this season. His only goal so far for Man Utd came in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea. Casemiro scored a late goal with a looping header to snatch a point from Man Utd against the Blues.
