Wolfpack will howl on Thursday according to bookmakers
Virginia Tech will look to improve on their 2-5 record when they head to Raleigh on Thursday night. The Hokies are currently on a four-game losing streak and things won’t get any easier against the Wolfpack.
Punters say NC State is a heavy favorite in this one with a 13.5 spread in favor of the home team. The total point line is set at a measly 39.5 as the bookies expect this to be a defensive fight.
NC State will be eager to improve on their 24th ranking after losing two of their last three. Losses to very good Syracuse and Clemson teams shouldn’t count too much against them, though, especially with this drop in class.
How will this game be decided?
With Wolfpack starting quarterback Devin Leary set for the season, they again turn to the backup of Jack Chambers (pictured above). Charleston Southern’s graduate transfer struggled against Syracuse last time out, but fresh off the break, he’s had more time to adjust and prepare for this Hokies matchup.
Looking at the matchups for this one, it’s not hard to see why the bookmakers have the point total line where it is. Offenses seem powerless and defenses are likely to get away with it.
For NC State, the best bet to move the ball will be on the ground. His run blocking is among the best in college football and they should try to exploit it. The problem, however, is that they’re only averaging 3.8 yards per carry on the season so far.
There is even less hope for Virginia Tech and this anemic offense against a highly rated NC State D. It’s just really hard to see how they get yards and points. They are outclassed in all departments.

With such a low line, our initial thought was to check the weather forecast, but that’s for sure. But looking at this matchup, it looks brutal for both teams and it’s hard to see where the points are coming from. Our best bets and picks will be based on this.
