Juventus Keeping Eye on Villarreal keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili

Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly monitoring Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who currently plays for La Liga side Valencia.

Mamardashvili started his football career at the Gagra academy. However, after two seasons, he joined another Georgian club, Dinamo Tbilisi’s youth setup.

The Georgian goalkeeper later graduated from the Tbilisi academy and was promoted to the main team. Following his promotion, he was loaned out to Rustavi. Here Mamardashvili made his senior debut. The goalkeeper later joined Locomotive Tbilisi. He played one season for Locomotive Tbilisi and represented them in the Europa League. Mamardashvili performed very well on the European stage.

He was then named Georgian goalkeeper of the season. The following year, the Georgian goalkeeper signed on loan from Valencia. Although he was originally assigned to the Valencia youth team, he impressed Los Che Bordalas coach. Mamardashvili made his La Liga debut against Getafe in his first game of the 2021-22 season.

According to a report by GDS (via Football Italia), Serie A giants Juventus are looking to sign Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.

Since joining Valencia, Mamardashvili has become their first-choice goalkeeper. The Georgian has played exceptionally well over the past season. His performance in goal was one of the main reasons for Valencia’s last stage in the Copa del Rey.

He has also had a good start to the season. Mamardashvili has started all eleven games for Valencia so far. The goalkeeper is currently averaging 3.0 saves per game with a save percentage of 72%.

His performance has made him one of the best goalkeepers in LaLiga. Hence, many great teams are looking to sign a goalkeeper. Juventus has already entered that list.

Juventus’ starting goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is currently 32 years old. His contract in Turin will end at the end of the 2023/24 season. At that time he will be 34 years old.

Now Mamardashivili, who is currently 24, signed a contract renewal with the Bianconeri at the start of this season which expires in 2027. He has a €100m release clause in his contract, but obviously, Juventus are not going to pay. so much for the Georgian goalkeeper.
