James Milner’s second big block in as many games as fine form continues

Before Liverpool took on Manchester City, much of the talk revolved around the fear of having to play James Milner at right-back, but the 36-year-old passed the test and has done so ever since.

Then came a late block against West Ham that helped ensure the Reds were able to clinch all three points and, despite not being as important in terms of helping to secure a win, repeated the feat against Nottingham Forest.

Not long after Taiwo Awoniyi gave his side the lead at the City Ground, Morgan Gibbs-White had a great chance to double the lead, but our vice-captain was on hand to put his body on the line again.

After the tirade of abuse our number 7 received after the first few games of the campaign, his bounce back and being so vital in our last three games shows how important he is.

Jurgen Klopp clearly puts a lot of trust in our utility veteran and has proven him right once again.
