Antony turned down huge bonus to join Manchester United this summer – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United summer signing Antony turned down the chance for a mega bonus to stay at Ajax for the summer.

As reported in Sport Witness, Dutch journalist Mike Verweij believes the Brazilian was offered a huge check to stay in Amsterdam.

“Antony received a bonus that if he stayed one more season, he would receive several million,” Verweij said.

The bonus was offered in a bid to keep the Brazilian out of United’s clutches, with a view to cashing in on the player next summer.

However, the prospect of additional money was not enough to keep Antony in Amsterdam as he pushed for him to join his former manager in Manchester.

Antony started his United career in good form, scoring three goals in six Premier League games and displaying the fighting spirit that embodies Ten Hag’s new United.

His debut goal came against Arsenal and he followed it up with a wonderful consolation goal from 25 yards out in the derby before scoring at Goodison Park in a 2-1 win.

The winger has appeared in every game since his arrival, and Ten Hag’s confidence in the player is evident.

The Brazilian has the potential to become a true fan favorite at Old Trafford, with his attitude and talent evident.

Antony will be key to United’s success this season, offering pace, skill and a goal-scoring threat from the right flank.

United have been searching for an answer to their right-wing dilemma for a long time and it looks like they might finally have solved the conundrum.

Antony will be looking to continue his good form in the tight schedule leading up to the World Cup before representing his country at the prestigious tournament in Qatar.
