La Liga President sends warning to Barcelona

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, recently warned Barcelona to reduce its wage bill before next season.

Despite its great success in the last decade, Barcelona was very poorly managed by its management. As a result, they got into great economic turmoil.

Former president Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned from his post. Joan Laporta won the elections and took office. However, things were not easy at all. The biggest blow Barcelona suffered at the start of last season was when they failed to register Lionel Messi’s contract.

This was followed by one of Barcelona’s worst seasons in the recent past. They were eliminated from the group stage of the Champions League. At one point it seemed that the Catalans would not even be in the top four of La Liga.

In the midst of all this, Barcelona sacked Ronaldo Koeman and signed Xavi Hernández to take charge of the club. Laporta then made some winter signings to promote the arrival of Xavi.

Barcelona faced second place in La Liga and qualified for the Champions League, but it was still far from an ideal performance. They needed new faces to fight for the titles and Laporta did something interesting for it.

Barcelona mortgaged many future rents to secure its present or, in more famous terms, activated several levers to generate some money. They then showed all their intent in the summer transfer window.

Players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, Marcos Alonso, Franck Kessie and Hector Bellerin joined Barcelona. This gave Xavi a huge boost and Barcelona had a good start to the season.

However, despite all this, Barcelona is about to be eliminated from the Champions League group stage. This can have an impact on your finances.

Speaking of the same thing, Javier Tebas told Mundo Deportivo: “The levers have worked well for this season but not for the next one. They have to reduce their wage bill, they cannot continue paying more than 500 million because if they do, next season we will be back where we started.

So basically, to get around this situation, you’re going to have to get rid of some big income from your squad. Or they could look to make some money by selling some players.

Now, according to previous reports, the Catalan Giants are looking to release all four captains in the coming summer. Busquets, Piqué, Alba and Roberto are among the top earners in this squad.

So if Barcelona manage to do it, it will give them a big relief.
