Manchester United played out a thrilling 1-1 draw with Chelsea in their last outing from the English Premier League.
Chelsea captain Jorginho scored for Graham Potter’s men, while Brazilian international Casemiro was on the scoresheet for Manchester United’s side.
Looking ahead to the match, Manchester United decided not to include their Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo after the controversy in the Tottenham match. They wanted to extend their winning streak and break into the top four.
Meanwhile, Chelsea were coming off a frustrating draw against Brentford. Potter’s men were eager to get back on the winning trail.
Chelsea and Manchester United canceled each other
Manchester United had a brilliant start to the match. England striker Marcus Rashford had the first chance of the game in the 13th minute, however, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa made a great goal move to prevent his shot from going wide of goal.
Antony then moved into excellent position to score the opening goal, but the Manchester United winger’s shot went terribly wide of goal.
The first half ended 0-0 but United’s dominance was clear. But when the second half started it was another story. Graham Potter’s side looked like a completely changed team and began to generate chances.
Chelsea’s summer signing Pierre Emerick Aubameyang missed quite a few half-chances in a span of a few minutes. Then defender Trevoh Chalobah hit the post.
Finally, Chelsea had a golden opportunity to take the lead when Chelsea striker Armando Broja was fouled in the box by Manchester United midfielder McTominay. As a result, Graham Potter’s side were awarded a penalty which their captain Jorginho easily converted.
With just a few minutes left on the clock, it looked like Chelsea had grabbed all three points. But Manchester United had other plans. In the 95th minute of the match, Brazilian midfielder Casemiro scored with a brilliant header to bring the Red Devils level.
The match ended with a score of 1-1 as both teams shared a point. With this result, Manchester United stayed in fifth place in the table with twenty points in eleven games. They will face FC Sheriff Tiraspol in the next match.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will remain in fourth position. They now have twenty-one points from eleven games. The Blues will face Red Bull Salzburg in their next outing.
