Roy Keane has backed his former Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo after the striker faced disciplinary action from Erik ten Hag.
Ronaldo refused to come on as a substitute when United met Tottenham Hotspur in midweek at Old Trafford. He left the stadium early as his teammates saw a well-fought 2-0 win.
Consequently, Ronaldo was excluded from United’s squad to face Chelsea on Saturday and was forced to train alone. He has since addressed the situation on his Instagram.
Roy Keane endorses Ronaldo:
Joined by Gary Neville and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on Sky Sports, Keane addressed the situation, saying: “He [Ronaldo] he certainly feels that he has been treated unfairly. When you get that as a senior pro, it’s almost justified anger, he’ll react that way, but he’s flawed just like everyone else.
?? “Manchester United is a better team without him”?

“The [Ten Hag] he’s talking about spirit after the game, don’t you think that’s a message for Ronaldo?
“I guarantee you that if Ronaldo had played the most games, he would be the top scorer.”
Regarding United’s form, he added: “Ten Hag obviously has big decisions, he has to win football games, but he doesn’t win enough. United are fifth in the league.
“They beat Spurs the other night and I thought they won the European Cup. They beat the Spurs. They beat them last year and Ronaldo scored a hat-trick”.
