English Premier League giants Chelsea have reportedly received a message from Dutch international Frenkie de Jong’s Camp for a potential January transfer move at Stamford Bridge.
After spending time in the ASV Arkel and RKC academy, Frenkie de Jong joined the Willem II youth setup in 2005.
De Jong then graduated from the Willem II academy and was promoted to the main team in 2015. Then in the same year, de Jong joined Dutch giants Ajax. At Ajax, Frenkie played for their reserve team in the early years. But when he was promoted to the main team, he began to show his talent.
Frenkie de Jong helped Ajax to their first UEFA Champions League in 22 years. He was also named Eredivisie player of the season. Following this, Frenkie de Jong was signed by La Liga giants FC Barcelona for a fee of €75 million.
Chelsea leads the race to sign Frenkie de Jong
After joining his dream club FC Barcelona, Frenkie de Jong got off to a decent start. But the Dutch midfielder, for whatever reason, never quite matched the performances of his days at Ajax.
So Barcelona decided to sell the midfielder last summer and even agreed to a transfer price. However, De Jong was reluctant to leave the club he dreamed of playing for as a child and continued to fight for a place.
But now, according to a Daily Express report, the midfielder has decided to leave Barcelona in the upcoming winter transfer window. And the club that is closest to him is Chelsea at the moment.
The Blues named Graham Potter just after the end of the summer transfer window. Under Potter, they are still undefeated and have been playing some good football.

De Jong has been a target of Chelsea since the last transfer window. And now it seems that, even after the arrival of a new manager, he is in the Blues’ transfer plans.
De Jong’s side have reportedly notified Chelsea that the midfielder is up for a move in the upcoming winter transfer window. But obviously, before that, Chelsea will have to agree a fee with Barcelona.
Already in Barcelona’s last game against Villarreal, De Jong showed great enthusiasm and put in a brilliant performance. With de Jong Orchstratting from behind, Barcelona scored three goals against Villarreal.
This performance was a huge statement on De Jong’s part. It is understood that he will also start in the next game against Athletic Club.
