Chelsea manager Graham Potter said a lot has changed for Man Utd since Brighton & Hove Albion beat them in their Premier League opener 22/23.
Man Utd hosted Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford in their opening game of the season and Potter was the Seagulls manager at the time. Brighton emerged victorious in that game, inflicting a 2–1 defeat on the Red Devils.
Potter is currently the manager of Chelsea, having been appointed by the Blues after parting ways with Thomas Tuchel. Chelsea are unbeaten since Potter took over the club, with five wins and two draws from seven games.
Chelsea take on Man Utd in their next game in what is arguably Potter’s biggest challenge as Blues manager to date.
Man Utd have changed a lot since Brighton loss, says Graham Potter
Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea vs Manchester United, Potter admitted that much has changed for Man Utd since the Brighton side he coached beat them in their first league game.
“Very much. I have great respect for [Erik] Ten Hag, the work he has done in his career, and his quality as a coach. You can see people adapt and adjust as they go into the competition. So they’ve done well,” Potter said.
“Obviously it wasn’t a great start from their perspective, but they fought, got points and played well. It will be a tough match.”
Chelsea, meanwhile, come into play following their disappointing 0-0 draw at Brentford in their previous Premier League games. The Blues lost two important points when the Bees held them to a scoreless draw.
Man Utd, meanwhile, head into the match after a convincing 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. The Red Devils produced arguably their best performance since Ten Hag took charge of the club to secure all three points against Antonio Conte’s men.
Chelsea sit fourth in the Premier League points table with 20 points from their first 10 games. Meanwhile, Man Utd are fifth, just one point behind the Stamford Bridge side.
Chelsea have a chance to establish a four-point lead over Man Utd when they take on the Old Trafford side in their next game. Meanwhile, Man Utd will overtake Chelsea to fourth place if they come out of the game with three points.
The match between Chelsea and Man Utd kicks off at 10:00 pm Indian Standard Time.
