Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton backed Newcastle to beat Antonio Conte’s Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend.
Spurs will look to bounce back from Wednesday’s 2-0 loss to Manchester United with a victory against Newcastle. However, Eddie Howe’s side have been extremely impressive this season, losing only once to Liverpool. They’re playing some of the best football in the country with Howe preparing his team to attack. They are sixth in the league, just 2 points behind fourth-place Chelsea.
Tottenham, according to the BBC sports pundit, will need their goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to be at the top of his game if they want to win against Newcastle, predicting they will lose 2-1. He wrote:
“I really like what Eddie Howe is doing at Newcastle. Defensively they are good, but they always create chances too and they are a team full of confidence.
“Tottenham have been getting some good results without playing particularly well, or at least they were until they went to Old Trafford on Wednesday.
“That loss would have been worse if it wasn’t for some good saves from Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and they may need him to keep him in this game as well.
“Sutton’s prediction: 1-2”.
Newcastle will not lack confidence and will come out fired. But, Conte’s team has shown several times this season that they can pull off victories.
