During the Hammers’ 1–0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield, Said Benrahma was seen breaking an important rule of the game.
The Algerian came off the bench shortly after the hour mark and immediately made an impact, being a constant threat down the left flank, tormenting the Liverpool defence.
However, some fans noted that Benrahama seemed to be playing without his shin guards. Many, including match officials, didn’t notice, but fans on social media were all over him. Around the 75th minute, the Algerian appeared to remove his shin guards before continuing the match without them.
Amazon Prime footage (via Sport Bible) also showed that Benrahma apparently had no shin guards on his socks, with commenters also mentioning that the player was not wearing shin guards.

In accordance with the laws established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB), Law 4.2, entitled “compulsory equipment” states that:
“Shin guards: must be made of a suitable material to provide reasonable protection and covered by socks.”
“A player whose shoe or shin guard is accidentally lost must have it replaced as soon as possible and at the latest when the ball is out of play again; if before doing so the player plays the ball and/or scores a goal, the goal is awarded”.
Although some fans are calling for a ban, it will be interesting to see if the FA punishes him for this breach.
