Jurgen Klopp admitted his relief to have Curtis Jones back in the team after Scouser suffered a series of “strange injuries”.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a cameo appearance in the 1-0 win over West Ham in midweek as the German rotated his options at the park.
“It’s perfect to have him back. He is an exceptional player, an exceptional talent,” the 55-year-old coach told reporters at the pre-match press conference.
“Whatever system you play, you can play different positions, which is very helpful.”
The Merseysiders will be hoping to continue their positive comeback in form with a third successive league win against Steve Cooper’s out-of-form Nottingham Forest, who currently languish at the bottom of the table.
“It’s perfect to have him back and I hope that from now on having him back will be a great help for us,” Klopp added.

Although the Englishman continues to divide the crowd in terms of his long-term prospects at Anfield, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to have another left-sided midfielder in the squad to provide an alternative option to Thiago Alcantara.
Klopp’s decision to switch to the two-man midfield has worked wonders of late, appearing to make the best of a troubled department while maximizing defensive stability and opportunities going forward.
Jones may need some time to fully get back up to speed, especially with the demands of his coach’s modified system, though his positional versatility will surely benefit us ahead of the World Cup.
