English Premier League giants Manchester United will be without the services of their French striker Anthony Martial in their next crucial game against Chelsea.
After a great start to his career at Manchester United, Anthony Martial found himself on loan to Sevilla in the second half of last season. Things did not look good for the French international.
He struggled in Seville and managed to score just one goal for the Spanish team in 12 appearances. So when he returned to Old Trafford after the end of his loan deal, it was thought that the Red Devils would get rid of him.
But Erik ten hag gave the Frenchman a second chance and played well in pre-season. Seeing this, the Manchester United management decided to keep the striker. Martial made his first appearance of the season against Liverpool and provided an assist. But then when he suffered an injury and was sidelined for over a month.
Manchester United confirm the unavailability of Martial
Martial returned from his injury in the Manchester City game and scored a second-half brace that ended in a 6–3 loss. In the next game, Martial provided an assist against Omonia.
Then finally, when he got his first start of the season, Martial got hurt in the first half. However, before the injury, he dished out one more assist.
Since then, the French striker has missed the last three games for Manchester United. And now it has been confirmed that he is going to be left out of Sunday’s important game against Chelsea.
For his part, Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been officially left out of the squad. Previously, in United’s last match against Tottenham, Ronaldo left the field even before the end of the match.
Supposedly he didn’t want to be substituted in the match either. As a result, Manchester United made this big decision to leave one of their club legends, Cristiano Ronaldo, out of the squad.
With Martial and Ronaldo both unavailable, Marcus Rashford is expected to start in the number 9 position. Like Martial, Marcus Rashford has found his form under Erik ten Hag. He is currently one of the main players at Manchester United and they will depend on him in the game as well.
Now, despite the concerns, Cristian Eriksen managed to play a few minutes in the last match against Tottenham. The Denmark international is now expected to return to the starting line-up.
With six wins from ten games, Manchester United are currently in fifth place in the table. They can overtake Chelsea and break into the top four if they pick up all three points in their next game.
