Piers Morgan leaps to the defence of Ronaldo by criticising Erik ten Hag

Piers Morgan has once again jumped to Cristiano Ronaldo’s defense following the superstar’s behavior against Tottenham on Wednesday night.

The Man United striker decided to come off the bench during Wednesday night’s clash with Tottenham at Old Trafford and walk to the dressing room with minutes remaining on the clock having not played a single second of the match with his side leading 2-0 over his top-four rivals.

According to The Athletic, the 37-year-old not only walked through the tunnel before the final whistle, but also left the stadium instead of heading to the dressing room and celebrating with his teammates.

This led to much criticism of Ronaldo with pundits, journalists and fans condemning the Portuguese international for his misbehavior.

However, at times like this, die-hard Ronaldo fan Piers Morgan jumped to the superstar’s defence, criticizing Man United manager Erik ten Hag for the way he treats the 37-year-old.

Piers Morgan defends Cristiano Ronaldo for his behavior against Tottenham

“The way Ten Hag seems to revel in humiliating Ronaldo is pathetic,” Arsenal supporter Morgan tweeted Thursday morning.

“Putting the best footballer in the world on the bench, forcing him to warm up repeatedly, and then not even using him as a substitute, is an astonishing disrespect to United’s top scorer last season.”

In fact, Ronaldo was Man United’s top scorer last season with 24 goals, but his form has since declined dramatically for club and country and the Red Devils now have a style of play under Ten Hag that Ronaldo doesn’t fit.

The Manchester club played their best football in years on Wednesday night, proving that the problem is not the new Man United manager.
