Iran National Team TV Schedule

Iran is a three-time AFC Asian Cup champion (1968, 1972 and 1976), but the sport in the country languished in part due to political strife from the late 1970s onwards. In more recent times, Iran was the top-ranked international team from Asia for almost 4 consecutive years, from 2014 to 2018, the longest any team from Asia has held that honor.

Iran qualified for the World Cup six times, but never got past the group stage and only won two games. One of those two wins, in particular, came against the United States in 1998. The two nations will meet again in the 2022 World Cup group stage.

Paramount+ can be considered a kind of home for Iran’s parties. This is CBS’s paid streaming service. It carries the AFC Asian Cup as well as qualifying for the Asian World Cup. In both, Iran is a constant threat to succeed.

However, the biggest tournament Iran competes in, and has done so in four of the last five editions, is the World Cup. In the United States, FOX and FS1 carry all 64 games of the world’s largest sporting event. There is also coverage in Spanish provided by Telemundo and Universo. Or check out Peacock Premium to stream in Spanish.

Iran differs from other Middle Eastern nations in terms of where its key players play in club soccer. While most other countries in the area have players from that national league, Iran’s best players are spread all over the world.

For example, Sardar Azmoun, a clinical striker with 41 goals in 65 caps, plays for Bayer Leverkusen. Karim Ansarifard played for the Cypriot club Omonia in their matches against Manchester United in the Europa League.

Iran’s captain is Ehsan Hajsafi, who has an impressive 121 caps for Iran during his tenure. He leads a side in crisis, with doubts about the availability of players due to his voices against the Iranian government’s treatment of women. However, if Iran are at full strength, this is a team that can get the best of any opposition.
