La Liga Giants Barcelona is tempted to bring back Argentine striker Lionel Messi next summer from Paris Saint Germain.
After spending time at Newell’s Boys academy, Lionel Messi joined the youth setup of Spanish club FC Barcelona. He finished his football education at the famous La Masia and was promoted to the Barcelona main team.
After his promotion, Messi did not take long to settle in the Barcelona squad. He then he became one of the greatest players ever to grace the football player. Lionel Messi won everything for the Catalan Giants and made them one of the best clubs in the world. His love for Barcelona was unparalleled and it was often thought that the Argentine striker would only retire in the Blaugrana shirt.
However, things did not go as he would have wanted. Even after Barcelona’s great performances on the pitch, they were grossly mismanaged for much of the last decade. As a result, Barcelona entered an economic crisis and was unable to register Lionel Messi’s contract. Messi then had to leave his beloved club.
Lionel Messi focused on the World Cup
After his departure, Messi joined French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year contract. He had a very difficult start to his career at PSG, but was able to win the Ligue 1 title with the French giants.
Now this lap has started brilliantly. Messi has already scored eight goals and has also given eight assists in all competitions.
However, his contract with PSG will expire at the end of this season. Paris Saint-Germain obviously wants to keep the superstar at the Parc des Princes and has already made him a contract renewal offer.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are also in the race for the striker. The Blaugrana have now become much more stable financially than in recent seasons and they want to bring the best player in history back to the club.
However, Lionel Messi is currently not thinking about his future beyond this season. The same was confirmed by the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano in his column for Caught offside.
“The rumors about Lionel Messi continue, but as I have mentioned many times, he will not decide his future until 2023. He plans to speak with his family, his lawyers and everyone around him.” Fabrizio Romano said.
The journalist further explained that Lionel Messi is not currently negotiating with Barcelona or PSG. However, Romano also mentioned that Barcelona is tempted by a return of Lionel Messi.
The report also suggests that Lionel Messi is currently focused on the upcoming Qatar 2022 World Cup and will make a decision about his future after that.
