Alan Shearer attacks Jadon Sancho on Twitter during Manchester United’s game with Newcastle United – Man United News And Transfer News

Alan Shearer hurled an insult at Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho during United’s game with Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

As The Mirror reports, Shearer accused Sancho of diving to try and win a penalty in the second half of a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.

Not famous for his glittering relationship with United, the former Newcastle striker took to Twitter to make his feelings known.

Although Shearer feels that Sancho took a dive, replays show there was contact between Sancho and Sean Longstaff and United may feel aggrieved that he was not awarded a kick from the penalty spot.

Adding to the frustration, referee Craig Pawson was not advised to look at the on-field monitor, in a game that did not turn out to be one of his best.

Newcastle themselves felt they had a strong case for a penalty when Raphael Varane collided with Callum Wilson in the first half – again, without review.

Cristiano Ronaldo was also left aggrieved, feeling that Keiran Tripper had also fouled him in the box and had a goal disallowed for a controversial live ball, or non-live, Newcastle free kick incident. There was no review on any calls from Pawson and VAR, Jared Gillet.

United manager Erik ten Hag declined to comment directly on the officiating but seemed frustrated by Pawson’s performance.

“I don’t have a comment, everyone has seen it. you can try [asking] but everyone has seen the game.” he said.

Although the FA accused United of failing to control their players after Ronaldo’s disallowed goal, it doesn’t appear they have reviewed Pawson’s performance particularly favourably, as he was demoted to officiating a championship game last night.

After the weekend’s deadlock, United will be looking to return to winning ways as they continue their tough week of fixtures, welcoming Antonio Conte’s Tottenham to Old Trafford tonight.
