The 25-year-old was eventually stretchered off the pitch and was replaced by Kostas Tsimikas in the final minute of the match.

Speaking after the match, Klopp provided an update on Jota’s injury. “Diogo, I wish I didn’t have to talk about it. I saw it on the side of the screen, I’m the first to see it,” said the Liverpool manager.

“When I saw that he fell and there was not a lot of contact, you can see a little bit that someone kicks his foot and maybe the muscle was stretched too much, 96 minutes, that is not good for the muscle. She felt it right away and now we have to wait to see how bad it is.”

Meanwhile, against Man City, Liverpool scored the winning goal in the 76th minute of the match. It all started with a quick thought from Alisson Becker.

The Brazilian comfortably collected the ball from a Man City free kick and kicked it into the Man City half.

Salah was toe-to-toe with Joao Cancelo when Alisson made that kick. The Egyptian left the Portuguese full-back one touch behind and found the goal. And he wasn’t wrong, sending it past Ederson and into the Man City net.

The result helped Liverpool move up to eighth place in the Premier League points table. The Reds have 13 points from their first nine games in the league.
