Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has indicated that Manchester United’s most dangerous player is Cristiano Ronaldo.
United face Tottenham tomorrow at Old Trafford.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of the crucial tie, Conte praised Ronaldo, whom he, along with Lionel Messi, called the greatest player in football history.
Conte, warning his players not to take Ronaldo lightly, said: “Last season he [Ronaldo] we scored a hat-trick. We are talking about an incredible player, a top player. We are talking about a player who continues to make a difference in the team he plays for”.
“We lost 3-2, but we lost to him [Ronaldo], not United last season. I remember it very well because we played a very good game”.
“I hope tomorrow is calm, not like last season when he scored three goals.”
Another player who earned the Italian’s praise in his press was Christian Eriksen.
The Dane worked with Conte at Inter Milan in Serie A, where he won the Scudetto.
The Tottenham boss refused to reveal whether he had been interested in bringing Eriksen back to north London before United sensationally sought him out and signed him as a free agent.
He admitted that he would like to work with the 30-year-old again and train him.
Conte also confirmed that while he did not know United manager Erik ten Hag personally, he was well aware of his style of play and exploits for Ajax.
In a show of support for his fellow manager, the 53-year-old insisted it was imperative that United fans and the club’s hierarchy give him the time and financial support necessary to mold the team in his image.
