Match report: Manchester United 0-0 Newcastle United – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have drawn 0-0 at home to Newcastle United in a disappointing performance from the Reds.

United had the first chance of the half, but Fred’s shot went wide.

It was a sloppy start to the game though, with United making mistakes at the back, but luckily Newcastle didn’t punish them.

Sancho had an opportunity but not very different from Fred’s, it was diverted to the locals.

It wasn’t all United though, as Newcastle tried to create their own chances, Guimarães firing from close range but De Gea was there to save him.

It went from end to end, but neither side was able to break the lock. Trippier fired hard for Newcastle around the half hour mark, but it was blocked by the Reds defence.

At the other end, Shaw played a beautiful through ball to Ronaldo, but the Portuguese international was caught offside.

Just before the break, Fernandes came close to scoring but his header off Dalot’s cross went over the crossbar.

It was goalless at half time, it would be a great team talk for Ten Hag.

The second half began as the first had ended, with both teams having half chances in the first five minutes. First, Callum Wilson’s shot went wide, while Ronaldo again found himself offside before sending a shot wide moments later.

Just before the hour was up, United called out a good penalty as Sancho’s foot was stepped on, but VAR said there was no penalty, causing the fans to riot.

United were pushing forward but couldn’t seem to break through the Newcastle defence.

With ten minutes remaining, the rojillos got a scare when Almiron was about to score after a corner but his left foot went high and wide.

Rashford, who had come on as a substitute, had a chance for a free kick but was also unable to keep the shot on target.

It was a disappointing result for the Reds as they finished 0-0 at home.
