He scored 18 goals for United in the English Premier League and provided three assists. On top of that, he also scored six goals in the UEFA Champions League. Ronaldo was without a doubt his best player of the season.

However, things have changed drastically since Dutch manager Erik ten Hag was brought in to take charge of Manchester United. The Portuguese superstar lost his place in the starting eleven. the Dutch manager mainly used Ronaldo as a substitute in the English Premier League. The only games that he has been a regular starter have been in the Europa League. And even there he has struggled until now.

Simeone rejects Cristiano Ronaldo’s move

With Ronaldo on the bench, there were widespread rumors that the Portuguese striker wanted to leave the club during the latest transfer window.

He began to link up with almost all the clubs qualified for the UEFA Champions League. But surely the name that came to light the most was Atlético de Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo has spent much of his career in Spain playing for La Liga giants Real Madrid. Ronaldo led Real Madrid to four Champions League titles. He is surely a legend of Madrid in every sense and one of the most beloved players of the white fans.

So when he was linked with Real’s arch-rivals Atletico Madrid, people couldn’t believe it. But with Ronaldo’s situation at United, it was thought that the move could come to fruition.

Finally, Cristiano Ronaldo did not leave Manchester United. Now, finally, the coach of Atlético de Madrid, Diego Simeone, has spoken about this great rumour.

Speaking to journalist Martin Liberman, Simeone said: “The possible arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Atlético in the summer? The little birds told you anything far from what happened”

The Argentine coach thinks that the rumor was totally unfounded and that it was something that people just wanted to believe.

He further explained that he would never like to see Boca Juniors legends like Martín Palermo and Riquelme in River Plate and River Plate legends like Ortega in the Boca Juniors team.

Similarly, Cristiano Ronaldo is a symbol of Real Madrid. So he wouldn’t want a move like that.
