Marcus Rashford dropped as Manchester United face Newcastle United – Man United News And Transfer News

Marcus Rashford was dropped by Erik ten Hag for Manchester United’s home Premier League match against Newcastle United, despite Anthony Martial not being fit enough to take his place.

Martial didn’t even make it to the bench even though Erik ten Hag was hopeful he could be fit.

Jadon Sancho is called up to the team, with Cristiano Ronaldo continuing in the centre-forward position.

Otherwise, Christian Eriksen is still absent from the starting eleven and Fred continues in his place.

Eriksen is presumed to be ill or injured as he is not listed as a substitute.

Victor Lindelof has also made his way, with Raphael Varane returning from injury.

Tyrell Malacia is also rotated after his midweek start, with Luke Shaw returning to the starting lineup.

Tom Heaton is the substitute goalkeeper and Martin Dubravka is unavailable as United face their parent club.

There’s an interesting addition to the bench, with fit Kobbie Mainoo joining the seniors.

Mainoo performed brilliantly yesterday for the Under 21 team before being pulled at halftime, presumably with today in mind.

Pellistri, Iqbal, Elanga and Garnacho are the other substitutes.
