Former Manchester United player Paul Parker has criticized the club’s decision to sign Donny van de Beek.
Speaking to IndiaBet, Parker stated:
“Donny was clearly bought by a sporting director or aspiring player who plays online, who plays FIFA football and thinks he knows the players.”
“But in theory, he doesn’t know them because he hasn’t done his homework.”
The Dutch midfielder was signed in the summer of 2020 by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
At the time, he was being promoted as one of the most exciting young midfielders in all of Europe and had been heavily linked with his move to Real Madrid.
Solskjaer barely started him in matches, which made people wonder if he wanted the player in the first place.
The Dutchman’s career has gone downhill, risking his place in the national team.
“Donny van de Beek is one of those players who looked good in an Ajax team in that period of the Champions League, but Manchester United are the biggest club in the world.”
“He got there and suddenly realized that this is too big a club for him. He just got there like a rabbit in the headlights.”
“The club was in crisis when they bought Van de Beek, and during his time at United, he mixed with different managers. He came at the wrong time.”
“He came to the club at a time when fruits and vegetables were mixed on the same plate, and the truth is that it doesn’t work. There was no organization, and it’s a shame, really, because he seems like a lovely boy.”
United should look to move him to recover some transfer income.
