Andy Cole tells Marcus Rashford exactly what he must do to find best form – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United legend Andy Cole has advised Marcus Rashford to go back to basics and remember what brought him into the spotlight, in an effort to return to his old electric self.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Cole said: “If I were Marcus, and this is just me, I’m talking about what I would do or what I used to do, I’d go back to basics.

“If Marcus asked himself ‘how did I get into the first team’ when he came in ‘what was he doing’ and looks at himself now, he knows he’s not doing those things.

“So if you’re not doing what you did then how are you going to improve? Get back to basics.”

The treble winner warned his supporters not to blindly follow Roy Keane’s comments that the attacker lost the eye of the tiger.

According to Cole, Rashford still has a lot of potential and must look within himself to overcome the barriers that prevent him from realizing his form from years ago.

The 24-year-old endured a nightmare season last season, losing his place in the squad to Anthony Elanga. He also only recorded a five-goal return in 32 appearances last term.

This season, the winger has already matched his tally from last season, scoring five in 10 games. Under Erik ten Hag, the Englishman has shown glimpses of what he can do.

Like Cole, Ten Hag urged Rashford that in order to touch his high ceiling in skills, he must look to be more clinical in front of goal.

This is after the player missed a multitude of clear chances in the Europa League against Omonia on Thursday.

Rashford should heed the advice of Cole, a former talisman who scored 121 goals in 275 appearances for the Old Trafford outfit during his time at the club.

The United academy graduate is just two away from a century of goals for his boyhood club. There is no better time to do it than tomorrow against Newcastle.
